FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is this blog about?

I write my personal thoughts in the blog and maintain my software projects here. Sometimes I will react to political things as well. Mainly, this blog is about software development and related topics. But yeah, I tend to go off topic sometimes.

Who are you?

My real name is Swen Kalski. For development, I use the handle El Dockerr because I hate Docker - it was a pun by my colleagues. And , well I, I also write novels under the pen name Swen Kalini. So I'm a professional dissociative identity disordered developer and author by heart.

How long have you been a developer?

I've been a developer for about 25 years now, working with various technologies. I started programming with assembly back in the early 90s. Okay - this means I'm getting old and my first "Hello, World!" was on a Commodore 64 over 35 years ago.

I don't like what you do here. What should I do?

No problem! There are plenty of other blogs out there. Here are some searches to help you find one:

Why is this site so plain?

Because simplicity is beautiful. No tracking, no cookies, no JavaScript bloat. Just content. Fast and accessible. To be honest, I also dislike modern web design trends. I think this is why I prefer writing novels and code instead of web design.

What do you do in real life?

I work as a hardware integration engineer for a famous company in Malta. I made my B.Sc in computer science and actually do my B.Sc in mathematics.

Can I contact you?

Check my GitHub profile or the repositories of my software projects. You can open issues or discussions there. Furthermore, you can find me on LinkedIn. If you need to contact me for something specific, you can also send me an email to 𝚔𝚊𝚕𝚜𝚔𝚒.𝚜𝚠𝚎𝚗 -𝚊𝚝- 𝚐𝚖𝚊𝚒𝚕.𝚌𝚘𝚖. Please note that I might not respond to every message, but I will do my best to get back to you if it's something I can help with or find interesting.

Does you even have readers?

Since I have no tracking, I can only see the number of visitors on the server logs, which is around 100-200 unique visitors per day. I don't know who they are, but I hope they find something useful or interesting here.

We want you as a partner or promoter

Thanks, but no thanks. I don't do partnerships or promotions. This blog is a personal project and I want to keep it that way. When you have to much money, see my Terminal Emulator project on GitHub and sponsor it if you want to support me.
